Dash and Splash
This unique event is now in its 5th year – raising money for Challenge & Adventure.
This year’s event is being held on Sunday 28th July – at 2pm when the tide is at its lowest. It’s a 5k dash (run or walk) from Shanklin to Sandown along the beach, dashing over and around the groynes and occasionally splashing in the sea. Last year over 200 people took part. It’s great fun in a wonderful setting and open to all ages. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult participant.
The groynes are all marshalled by volunteer marshals from Shanklin Rowing Club, Shanklin and Sandown Rotary Clubs, Ryde Lions, Yaverland sailing Club, Sandown & Shanklin Rugby Club.
Tesco Ryde have provided bottled water and bananas at the finish.
All runners will get a medal and winners in all categories will get a winners t-shirt. Wight Diamonds and Shanklin Town Brass Band will be providing entertainment at the Start and Finish.
This is a unique event to the Island is the brain child of Australian Challenge & Adventure volunteer, Frederick Fisher who works tirelessly throughout the year to make this happen.
Entry is £10 per adult and £5 per child. Register online at www.dashandsplash.org.uk
